Looking beyond the unknowns and choosing to take a chance, I made a decision that would alter the course of my life.
There I was, sitting in the medical office as my husband retold our sons’ achievements for the day. This had become a routine as I worked during many of their games and sporting events. “Scott shot a basket today,” or “Blake’s going to try out for football”—these were big moments in their lives, and I was missing them. As he went over their day, a realization hit me like lightning: I didn't want to hear about their victories; I wanted to witness them firsthand.
For as long as I can remember, I have had a passion for helping people. Working as a licensed pharmacist technician was a great way to do that. After being a stay-at-home mom for several years, I returned to work ready to make a positive impact. However, it didn’t take long before I realized just how much I was sacrificing to do this job. Late evenings at the office were becoming routine and didn’t align with the life I wanted. My family will be my priority, always.
As a young child, I would often visit my grandparents' real estate office; these experiences planted a seed, growing my desire to do real estate as an adult. My grandmother was a broker, and my grandfather a real estate agent—they devoted their time to helping people through significant life transitions. It was a natural decision to get my license, following in their footsteps.
Balancing my career with real estate endeavors, I embraced the challenge, completing eight transactions and earning the title of Rising Star in my first year. Little did I know, this was just the beginning.
That fateful evening, when I got off the phone with my husband after hearing all the exciting news of the day, I had already decided what I would do. It was a life-altering decision, but I was ready to embrace real estate full-time! Cherishing moments with my three sons was the ultimate catalyst for change.
Questions loomed large, from concerns about financial stability to doubts about venturing into a seemingly saturated market. But my passion for real estate burned brighter than the shadows of uncertainty. I jumped all in and focused on building strong relationships with my clients. For the first time in my life, I felt I had found a balance between work and family life.
The years following 2008 marked a seismic shift in the market—the era of short sales and foreclosures. A colleague and I seized the opportunity, mastering the intricacies and thriving when many others struggled. It was bittersweet, but we were able to help so many people get through a devastating time in their lives, trying to make the best of a difficult situation.
After this period, I returned to being a solo agent. It was great having a partner, but through this transition, I had to face my weaknesses and navigate the intricacies of real estate alone. It was intimidating, but it made me stronger. I overcame the fear of making hard calls and delivering tough news, evolving into a more resilient, well-rounded real estate agent.
Real estate doesn't feel like work to me; I love my job! Guiding people through the process and imparting knowledge brings me genuine joy. Using my market insights, negotiation skills and research-based strategies, I strive to be a positive light in the buying and selling process.
With the flexibility real estate offers, I was able to be there for my sons throughout their school years—something I cherish deeply. Now, I'm blessed with two young grandchildren, who I love seeing as often as possible. My husband and I share a love for RV adventures, and we often take our camper out whenever we can. Life-work balance is crucial to me. Having this time to recharge only makes me a better REALTOR® for my clients.
Real estate wasn't just a career choice; it was a calling rooted in the legacy my grandparents started. This career has fulfilled my passion for helping people, and I’m grateful every day to have this amazing life! The people who have been with me on this journey, friends, family and clients, have been crucial to my success. They serve as a constant reminder of why I do this. With empathy, care and passion for curating great experiences, I want to help you on your next real estate adventure!
My love for real estate extends beyond the intricacies of transactions; it transcends into a genuine desire to help people during significant milestones in their lives. Guiding first-time homebuyers, navigating trust sales, assisting move-up buyers, and aiding downsizing parents whose children have left the nest—each phase in your life deserves to be handled with care and great attention to detail. When you work with me, I want to be there through each transition, serving as your REALTOR® for life.
Sincerely,
Suzanne Hunter
